What The Bing? Can Bing from Microsoft Take Over Google?

I’ve been in the search engine optimization industry for over a decade and like the book of Ecclesiastes says, “there is nothing new under the sun.” So it goes with these search engines. Sure they each will have some minor functionality that will probably never be used by most of their searchers. For example, Bing has a feature called “Price Predictor” that tells you when the ideal time is to purchase airline tickets, but don’t dozens of sites do that already? I will give credit to the “face” designers of Bing, the site looks great; it has an “Ask.com” feel to it. Well, 95% of thought on the Internet is regurgitated thought, and so it goes for web designs as well. Do I think Bing will steal market share from Google? For the next several months, yes, they will take an insignificant portion of market share from Google. Will it last? Probably not. This is what they call a “fad.” Here today, binged to eternal afterthought tomorrow. Although Google can learn quite a bit from the Bing marketing and PR blitz.
