Old linking methodologies of getting excessive links from forums, articles, and blogs will simply not do a website any good. In fact, those who have implemented such link methodologies may have already discovered they lost their rankings, or worse yet they have been penalized by Google. It is best to avoid any linking methodology that is easy, free or nearly free to accomplish. If it was easy for you to do, then that means it was easy for others too, which means that system of linking is being abused on a large scale, which further means you will get the attention of Google engineers who will rightfully thwart such poor linking methodologies. The best advice that I can give to anyone trying to do SEO themselves is to stop wasting time, and turn the case over to real SEO professionals who have tons of experience doing SEO. It doesn’t have to be RegisterEverywhere.com, just find someone that has a long track record of at least 10 years of doing SEO, whose own site is ranked on the first page of Google for search engine optimization related key phrases. Find someone you are comfortable with and take it from there. It is money well invested. The DIY SEOers almost always end up taking a wrong turn somewhere, and typically where they end up in the rankings is far worse from where they started.
