Search Engine Optimization and Social Media Signals

First, what are social media signals? Google and Bing are placing more emphasis on what the social media world writes about a website. For example, on Twitter, if people add one of your Tweets that beared a link to your site to their favorites, or if they re-tweet your post, or if they simply click on that link, your site's social media signals will improve. It’s the same with Facebook, just the terms are a bit different. On Facebook, if they like, share, or click on the link, your social media signals will improve. Improving social media signals involves you having active Twitter, Facebook, and/or Google Plus accounts. To build up a social media following, start with Twtter. If you have a Twitter account, but don't have a lot of followers, here is how you can easily get more followers; follow more people, and some of them will follow you back! When they do, you can ask them to "like" your Facebook page too, and of course you should "like" their Facebook page in return. The more you help others, the more help will come your way. Are there Twitter tools that can help you automate the process? Absolutely, there are several like TweetAdder, Pluggio, Tweepi, and others. Just remember to follow the rules of each social media site you are on, so that you do not get your account into trouble. Once you have followers, you need to get those followers to either click on your link, favorite your tweet, or re-tweet you. None of those things are easy to do, when your tweets are self-promotional in nature. Most people ignore self-promotion material. To get around that problem, in comes URLU.ME with the solution. People tend to click on links that interest them. For example, an interesting news article, a funny YouTube video etc. URLU.ME allows you to shorten any interesting news article link, funny YouTube link, cute kitten picture link, whatever links you find that you think will get people to click on the link, re-tweet you, or favorite your tweet. When people click on that link, they will see an intermission page that has links to your sites (up to 5 of them are allowed with a registered account). Search engine robots are programmed to follow any links, so any of your sites listed on that intermission page gets a boost. It’s that easy! So what about people who do not want to see your intermission page? Easy, they can click on the “skip” button, and they will automatically be taken to the link that you shared. However, for those that are actually interested in what you have to offer, that intermission page from URLU.ME also has the ability to collect leads for you, and it verifies those leads too! A pretty useful tool for any Internet marketer. It is owned by my boss, the founder of Register Everywhere, Inc; through his other company SOSBuzz, Inc. I strongly recommend URLU.ME to all of the clients here at RegisterEverywhere.com, and many of our clients use it on a daily basis. So that in a nutshell is what social media signals are, and how they influence your overall search engine rankings. Happy link sharing!
